Matt won two lift tickets to Squaw Valley USA through a great Reno Metromix online contest (thanks over there, by the way! awesome prizing!) and we were blessed with the opportunity to take on the mountain ONE MORE TIME in the 2008-09 ski season, rounding out our total at 7 Tahoe resorts.

The Squaw resort is absolutely amazing.  I do not have words to accurately describe…  There are almost 30 chair lifts and a ridiculous amount of terrain, for all levels of skiers.  We stuck mostly to the intermediate runs, and loved the Mountain Run which is about 3 miles long from top to bottom.  The snow was reduced to slush that lagged us down quite a bit, but being that we were just thrilled to be skiing for free we didn’t mind a bit.

Our favorite part of the resort was the sick pool and hot tub at “High Camp.”  High Camp is a plush little area at the top of the mountain (8,200 feet) that also features dining, drinking and ice skating.  It was about 75 degrees on this day, so there was a full on spring break party going all day.  We joined in around 3pm for a couple beers and some flirting with the heated pool.  The views were superb.

sportin' our pasty white skin, but look at that view!

I’m not gonna lie, we’re both now the proud owners of 2009-10 Squaw season passes.  Our terrific day coupled with the amazing 50/60 pass sale Squaw is having pushed us over the edge.  I’m already dreaming of next winter and its barely spring!
